No Hero Will Save Nigeria, Only Ordinary Citizens with Integrity Can Rebuild This Country—Wike

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has made it clear to the young and residents of Nigeria that they should not wait for a leader who can do miracles to fix the country. He argued that the only way to restore Nigeria is through the concerted efforts of ordinary people, and not via the activities of "heroes on horseback."


During the 2025 Distinguished Personality Lecture, which was held at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife and was headlined "The Nigeria of Our Dreams," Wike delivered an impassioned call to action.

According to what he said, "Nigeria's redemption will not be delivered by heroes on horseback, but rather by ordinary citizens doing extraordinary things."

Young Nigerians were urged by Wike to conduct their lives with honesty, to speak the truth to those in positions of authority, and to instill strong values in their children.

The dignity of work, the purity of truth, and the power of unification are all things that need to be rediscovering, according to what he stated.

He urged the people of Nigeria to quit viewing themselves as victims of a troubled past and to begin acting as creators of a new future.

"We must reimagine the country not as victims of its history, but as architects of its destiny," he continued. "We could not have been more wrong."

Meanwhile, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) reiterated his faith in President Tinubu's leadership, stating that the present administration is putting in place genuine measures to get Nigeria back on track.

The statement was made by Wike, who stated that President Tinubu has demonstrated a strong commitment to the establishment of democracy in Nigeria in a variety of different ways and at various periods.
