Naija News reports that Professor Ogunyemi, while speaking on the Open Forum 360 podcast with Dare Adekanmbi, said 15 states in the northern part of Nigeria will collapse within three months if the subsidy is returned. The public affairs analyst emphasised that only four states can survive without federal allocation, stressing that Atiku’s promise will lead to four major disabilities in the country. Professor Ogunyemi further urged the former vice-president to clarify the implications of his policy proposal and stop playing to the gallery. He said, “I think it is calamitous, to say the least, if we reverse the subsidy regime in Nigeria in favour of returning the subsidies. It will lead to four disabilities....

APC Is A Very Aggressive Ruling Party – Lagos NDC Gov’ship Candidate

Image
The 2027 governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Lagos State, Funso Doherty, has described the All Progressives Congress (APC) as an “aggressive and unscrupulous” ruling party over its alleged actions toward opposition in the state. Doherty, who spoke on his political plans ahead of the 2027 governorship election, said the dominance of the APC in Lagos should not be mistaken for the absence of opposition in the state. According to him, opposition figures have continued to challenge the government through political and legal channels despite what he described as the ruling party’s control of the state’s political space and airwaves. Recommended Kenya gives foreigners September 7 deadline to close small businesses: Could Nigerians be affected? “I don’t think that is true. I have been challenging the state government in the last four years. In fact, I sued the government in 2024 about the environmental impact assessment on the coastal road. The outco...

The Good and the Bad I Experienced: Why My Eight Years with Senator Orji Kalu Were a Disappointment

Image
The Good and the Bad I Experienced: Why My Eight Years with Senator Orji Kalu Were a Disappointment Eight years is a long time to give to any person, institution, or cause. For eight years, I worked with Senator Orji Uzor Kalu. I gave the journey my time, energy, loyalty, ideas, commitment, and sacrifices. I entered that chapter of my life with hope and with the belief that hard work and dedication would eventually lead to meaningful opportunities and personal growth. I believed that my loyalty would be valued. I believed that my contributions would be recognized. I believed that the sacrifices I made would eventually have a meaningful reward. Looking back today, however, I have to be honest with myself: those eight years were a disappointment. But let me make one thing clear: I believe Orji Kalu is a good man. My disappointment does not mean that I consider him a bad person. It does not erase the good qualities I have seen in him or the positive experiences I had d...

Under *Governor Alex Chioma Otti,* the state is not just being run — it is being _refitted for posterity_. As Dr. Michael Okpara once declared, _“Pragmatism is the soul of politics.”_ Otti’s pragmatism is rebuilding Abia from foundation to future. *One thing that set him apart: His courage, competence, character, and clarity of vision.* Where others saw decay, Otti saw design. Where others managed decline, he engineers revival. From *Arochukwu to Umuahia, and from Umuahia to Ukwa*, the evidence speaks. Roads abandoned for decades are now motorable. The Port Harcourt Road, Aba — once a metaphor for neglect — is becoming a symbol of renewal. Arrears of salaries and pensions that crippled dignity are being cleared, because _“A laborer is worthy...
