Tinubu Has Done What Others Didn't for Igbos, He'll Get 80% of Our Votes – Kalu

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has declared that the South-East region will overwhelmingly support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

According to a report by Daily Post, Kalu made this known during a gathering in Ntalakwu, Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State. He stated that the Igbo people are ready to reward Tinubu’s genuine efforts toward regional development with massive votes in the next election.

“We are promising the President, 70 to 80 per cent of votes from Igboland. Let us continue to remain as people who love peace and unity,” Kalu said while addressing the crowd.

He emphasized that Tinubu stands out among Nigerian Presidents for fulfilling promises made to the Igbo people after the civil war. Kalu noted that past governments failed to take any meaningful steps toward addressing the region’s concerns, but Tinubu has taken action where others only made pledges.

“No other President has remembered the promise made to the Igbo people after the war like President Bola Tinubu,” Kalu stated. He added that Tinubu was the first leader to take concrete steps toward fulfilling those promises by signing the South East Development Commission (SEDC) bill into law.

He went further to commend Tinubu for backing the SEDC with actual funding, despite public skepticism. According to Kalu, the commission is expected to bring development to rural communities and address the long-standing infrastructural gap in the region.

He also stressed that the South-East values loyalty and does not forget those who support them in times of need. Kalu concluded that Tinubu’s commitment to the region has not gone unnoticed and will be rewarded at the ballot box in 2027.
