Now That Fubara Has Gone To Meet Tinubu And Nyesom Wike, Did Ijaw Nation Collapse?- Ex Gov Candidate

Udengs Eradiri, a former governorship candidate in Bayelsa State, has reacted to the recent reports that Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in London. According to multiple sources, including PUNCH, Governor Fubara initiated the meeting to discuss the ongoing emergency rule in Rivers State. The discussion reportedly focused on the political and security challenges affecting the region.

Eradiri, however, shared his perspective on the matter after the news of the meeting surfaced. In a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, he questioned the implications of the meeting for the Ijaw nation. The former governorship candidate appeared to challenge the idea that the Ijaw ethnic group could be negatively impacted by the political negotiations taking place between Fubara and other figures, such as former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike.

He pointed out that some individuals had tried to cast the ongoing political disagreements as an ethnic conflict, a move he viewed as unjustified. In his statement, Eradiri wrote, "Now that Sim has gone to meet BAT and Wike, did the Ijaw Nation collapse? You people tried to turn a political dispute between two individuals with more secrets to share than you, the social media politicians."

Eradiri’s response suggests his concern that the political dynamics between key figures in Rivers State were being misrepresented and unnecessarily tied to ethnic tensions. He cautioned against politicizing the issue by turning it into an ethnic dispute, emphasizing that the political rift was more about personal and political differences rather than ethnic divisions. This comment reflects ongoing frustrations within the region about the way political conflicts are portrayed and handled, especially when they risk deepening ethnic divisions.
