INEC Robbed Me,the Man Who Changed My Result Phoned Me thinking He Was Talking To PDP Chair-Ehiozuwa

Hon. Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma, a Federal Commissioner at the Code of Conduct Bureau, recently claimed that he was unjustly denied victory in an election he contested in 2020, accusing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the election tribunal of orchestrating the fraud. In a revealing interview with Channels TV, Agbonayinma recounted how an INEC official inadvertently exposed a scheme to manipulate the election results. He alleged that the official, intending to contact the PDP chairman to demand the remaining payment for altering the outcome, mistakenly dialed Agbonayinma’s number instead, thereby unveiling the rigging plot.

Agbonayinma further detailed that the Department of State Services (DSS) launched a thorough investigation into the incident, substantiating his claims of electoral misconduct. He noted that DSS officials were prepared to present their findings at the election tribunal, even appearing as witnesses. However, he expressed dismay that the tribunal chairman disregarded the DSS report, dismissing the testimony of the agency’s officer as inconsequential. According to Agbonayinma, this ruling effectively buried the evidence of wrongdoing, allowing the alleged injustice to stand. His account paints a troubling picture of electoral integrity, suggesting a deliberate effort by key institutions to undermine his mandate.

In Ehiozuwa's words: "I was robbed by INEC and I was robbed by the tribunal in 2020, the INEC man who changed the result mistakenly dialed my number thinking that he was speaking to PDP chairman to come and redeem the balance. Guess what? DSS did a wonderful investigation. They did everything, they went to defend at the tribunal but the chairman of the tribunal said the DSS report had no value and the testimony of the DSS officer who came to testify is inconsequential"

The former lawmaker’s allegations highlight persistent concerns about transparency and fairness in Nigeria’s electoral processes, leaving lingering questions about accountability in the 2020 contest.
