When he picked ticket, everybody in Nigeria were against him, but he said do not worry–Sule Lamido

Former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido has issued a stark warning about President Bola Tinubu's path to power, highlighting how the president overcame widespread opposition from major Nigerian socio-political groups to clinch the presidency. In a revealing interview with The Sun newspaper, Lamido detailed the significant resistance Tinubu faced during his presidential bid. "Now when he picked the ticket, Afenifere was against him, Obasanjo was against him, all of us were against him, everybody in Nigeria, name it Afenifere, ACF, Middle Belt, Ohanaeze," Lamido recounted. "But he said 'Don't worry, I will deal with you all.' And, of course, he became the President." The former governor emphasized that Tinubu's victory was achieved independently of traditional power structures and institutional support. "Is Tinubu the creation of APC? Is he a creation of ACF or is he a creation of Afenifere? Or is the creation of CAN? He is nobody's creation. He is the creation of his pocket," Lamido stated. Expressing concern about the implications of such political autonomy, Lamido warned: "When you have that kind of guy in place, who is able to defy every institution in Nigeria, to overcome everybody, and demolished everybody, then it means you have got a problem. And you better start thinking how to get out of it." This assessment from a prominent northern politician suggests growing apprehension about the unprecedented nature of Tinubu's rise to power and its potential ramifications for Nigerian politics.
