A notice of preliminary objection filed on 9 May by the AGF to defend the president's action challenged the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court to entertain the suit. Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has declared that the South-East region will overwhelmingly support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election. Abia State Governor, Alex Otti has assured civil servants in the state that his administration would continue to protect their interests. This is even as announced that non-indigenes who were dismissed from the Abia State Civil Service by a previous administration in the state would be compensated for the injustice done them. Otti spoke on Thursday at Umuahia Township Stadium during the Workers Day celebration in the state.
