Image
Three Ghanaian nationals are currently on the radar of the police over impersonation and forgery, the Nigeria Police has said. The police in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi said it has concluded investigations concerning a high-profile case involving the foreigners. Adejobi in the statement issued on Friday said the suspects – Samuel Esson Jonah, Kojo Mensah Ansah, and Victor Quainoo – have been accused of orchestrating a sophisticated conspiracy to fraudulently assume control of JonahCapital Nigeria Limited. The trio alongside their accomplice, Abu Arome, a Nigerian conspired to illegally increase the company’s shares in Houses for Africa Nigeria Limited and River Park Estate. US Supreme Court curbs power of individual judges to block Trump

Image
The US Supreme Court handed President Donald Trump a major victory on Friday by curbing the power of lone federal judges to block executive actions. In a 6-3 ruling stemming from Trump’s bid to end birthright citizenship, the court said nationwide injunctions issued by district court judges “likely exceed the equitable authority that Congress has granted to federal courts.” The top court did not immediately rule on the constitutionality of Trump’s executive order seeking to end automatic citizenship for children born on American soil. But the broader decision on the scope of judicial rulings will remove a big roadblock to Trump’s often highly controversial orders and reaffirm the White House’s power. “Federal courts do not exercise general oversight of the Executive Branch; they resolve cases and controversies consistent with the authority Congress has given them,” said Justice Amy Coney Barrett, author of the opinion. “When a court concludes that the Executive Branch has a...

Abia’s development record and Oriaku’s misinformation

Image
In the realm of governance and development, facts—not fantasy—should define public discourse. Yet, in recent times, Mr. Obinna Oriaku, a former public officeholder, has made it his pastime to weaponize misinformation in pursuit of political relevance. While these theatrics may entertain the uninformed, they must be addressed decisively when they threaten the credibility of multilateral engagements and the developmental trajectory of Abia State under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR. This article is not a response to Mr. Oriaku’s antics. Rather, it is a clarion call to well-meaning Abians, development partners, and discerning observers to uphold truth over propaganda. RAAMP: Reviving a Dead Project and Setting New Standards It is on record that the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) was virtually comatose until the intervention of Dr. Alex Otti’s administration. Under the leadership of His Excellency, the project was revived, r...

Only Africa is experiencing real growth, Europe depends on us — Dangote

Image
President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has asserted that Africa is currently the only continent experiencing true economic growth, emphasising that Europe’s future progress is now closely linked to Africa’s continued development. Dangote made the remarks on Friday during the 32nd Annual Meeting of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), which was being held in Abuja. The event, themed “Building the Future on Decades of Resilience”, drew over 6,000 delegates from across the continent and around the world. “Let us make our continent a productive continent. We’re the only continent that has actually had growth. If you look at it today, Europe, with respect to them, there is no growth in Europe. They’ve reached a certain point … they need Africa to grow,” Dangote stated. Calling on African governments to prioritise local investors, Dangote stressed that the key to attracting international investors lies in supporting domestic ones first. “The majority of African c...

"When You Die, The Money Will Go Into The Banking System,” -Aliko Dangote React To Those Who Steals

Image
Africa’s foremost industrialist, Aliko Dangote, has criticized the damaging trend of capital flight on the continent, warning that the misappropriation and offshoring of stolen wealth does not only harm national development but also leaves families and entire generations impoverished. In a candid assessment of corruption and financial mismanagement in Africa, Dangote highlighted how the continent’s situation differs from other regions. “But our own is totally different,” he said. “Where now you deprive your country of the money, you deprive your family of the money, because you won’t tell your family you’ve stolen money.” The billionaire businessman argued that beyond the impact on national economies, individuals who siphon public funds also create personal legacies of secrecy and waste. “You deprive everybody, then you now go and hide the money somewhere,” he said, referring to how looted funds are often stashed in foreign accounts or secret investment vehicles. Dangote, w...
